Sonic Pro:

There needs to be enough power in the battery voltage to actuate the motor which opens/closes the valve.

If your batteries are low, it will be a struggle to open/close the valve properly. Try replacing the batteries (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Energizer-Ultimate-Lithium-Batteries-Pack/dp/B000IWW1G6?th=1) and check again after a few hours, and this should do the trick.
